For the past. . year, maybe longer, my computer has not been able to install any Windows Updates. Every time I try, it finds two updates: Service Pack 2, and some Background Intelligent Transfer Service. It tries to install them, but I wind up with a message that says:

The following updates were not installed:

Update for Windows XP (KB898461)
Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773)

I have PC-Illin constantly running on my computer, I've run Spybot many times and deleted any spyware, viruses, etc. and still am having this problem. I even tried to call Microsoft, but the guy I spoke to didn't speak very clear English, and told me his department couldn't help anyway.

Is there anyone out there who has any help? It would be very appreciated, as I've said, I haven't been able to get any updates in over a year (yeah, it took me a long time to actually take action, I know :tazz:

Thanks!

if that doesnt work, you can always get a friend to put the updates like SP 1 and SP 2 on a cd so you can install it directly instead of having to download it
