I recently updated Windows Media Player. Now I can't play .avi files, Is there an update I need to download? If so, do you have a site that you recommend??

try downloading the xvid codec... http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

I think my codecs are up to date but I ran a Decoder Checkup utility and it stated that my decoder is not compatible, will this make a difference or is that only needed to burn cd's???

download and install this, if yours is a codec issue then this will solve it.
