Hello,

I can't seem to get an answer from the manufacturers of both DVD media(Verbatim) and DVD drive(NEC) about my problem. This is what I sent to Verbatim:

I bought Verbatim 50pk DVD-R 16X blank media recently to back up my DVDs. I
use a NEC 3540a dvd drive to burn that never had any trouble with burns
using Imation's media at 8x speed. I tried to take advantage of the double
speed so I tried Verbatim's considering positive reviews. However, I tried
multiple times, at different speeds, to copy and i have not have any
success playing the disc in my dvd player. The dvd will be copied to the
media, just not able to be read by my dvd player. Does it matter what brand
of dvd player I use to play Verbatim's media? Compatibility issues? I
appreciate your response.

Verbatim' response was to flash the drive with the latest firmware, but I did just that before I sent the email to them and still does not play in the dvd player. The drive spec includes 16x capability. Anyone encountered this problem? I don't really want to invite 49 friends for a party just to use the discs for coasters. Any advise, please.
