I recently switched to SBC's DSL service (had Comcast cable modem before), and then my computer started going buggy (no problems before then). I've run through Safe Mode several times, running Spybot, AdAware, and Norton AntiVirus each time, and I'm still having problems. I can't get Norton's AutoProtect to turn on (it was working yesterday), and the Symantec security alert keeps popping up every 30 seconds or so. Occasionally a Windows Explorer window of the My Documents folder opens up without me doing anything. I've also had error messages for the DrWatson PostMortem Debugger come up when I try to open a folder. Finally, WinPatrol tells me that my IE home page keeps trying to change to about:blank (which I know is a virus/hijack). I'm pasting my HijackThis and About:Buster logs below. Please help. Thanks in advance. :tazz:

Here is my HJT log:

I have CCAPP.exe in my Symantec folders, but there's no file called "ccRegVfy" - how do I replace that file?. I already followed those steps that Michelle listed, having seen the same (probably) post. I'll redo the steps anyhow and post the new HJT logs later. I have System Works 2004 (don't know more specific than that).

All those things are checked. AutoProtect is turning on most of the time now, but I'm having other issues with Windows Messenger (in a separate thread) trying to connect all the time and now something called "Generic Host Processes for Win32 Services". Plus something keeps trying to load new DLLs to all sorts of programs (Sygate Firewall notices keep popping up; I don't know what they are so I don't allow them). Below is my new HJT log.

I followed all the recommended steps. Adaware and CWShredder didn't find anything; Spybot removed DoubleClick and Advertising.com (which it has supposedly removed before); Norton found several files (atlfk.exe, ieyx.exe, ipin32.dll, javatv.exe, javavw.exe, ntwg32.exe, wupdsnff.exe; listed as Adware.Iefeats, Adware.Ipinsight, Adware.BetterInternet) that were mostly embedded into other things and failed to remove them. For Windows Update I got a connection error (0x80072EE2). Below is my HJT log. Thanks again!

I ran both those things. Moosoft found a few trojans, as did TDS-3, which I cleared out as best I could. I'm going to run those two programs again in Safe Mode, but here's my HJT log after the first run through. Thanks again!

More problems - when I was in Safe Mode, Windows Explorer randomly popped up a window of My Documents, but minimized. Also, my computer would randomly freeze for no particular reason. I ran the Trojan, antispy, and antivirus programs while in Safe Mode, but when I restarted in normal mode I still have Sygate telling me that Windows Messenger, Generic Host Process for Win32 Systems, and others "may have changed since you last used it" and want to load a new DLL. Below is the most recent HJT log. Thanks again in advance.

Hi, I'm having the same problem as penguin was before, with my NAV 2k3 not allowing me to enable auto protect and shows an email scanning error. I'm running on XP sp2 and I did an msconfig check like Michelle suggested above. I found that I'm missing ccApp.exe from my "startup" screen and the following from my "services" screen:

Symantec Core LC
Symantec Settings Manager

Can anyone, or Michelle, let me know how to get this working again? It used to work fine when I had Win2k...

guys, this seems like the problem I have got. My computer is totally screwed.

Last time I checked I had NAV up and running, regular virus checks, eveything ran smoothly. Then all of a sudden everything has gone loopy. Auto protect wont work, so each time I go online to try to sort it out I am at risk. I get pop ups all the time etc...

I have apparently got rid of the viruses, but there are programs on my start up that I cannot get rid of such as -

Bullseye Network
Media Pass
Internet Optimizer (again, after the hassle in getting rid of it the first time)
180 search assistant.

Spybot, CWShredder, Adaware, and Hijack this come up with different things all the time, but even after I delete them, they keep coming back. Such as -

PowerScan
ISTbar.Slotch
GoldenPalace
DyFuCA
BargainBuddy
PeopleOnPage
ShopAtHome

Its just stupid.

I have never signed up to one of these before but I am in DESPARATE need of help. I do not know what you want me to run and list, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for being a novice on this site, but tell me what I need to do and I will do it.

Thanks

Biddzy

New problem, same computer. Even when I set some website to remember me (like this one or LiveJournal, for example), it forgets every time I restart my computer, forcing me to re-enter my user name and password every time. I checked my browser and it's not erasing my cookies, either. This is not a huge deal, but kind of annoying. Also, is it possible that some virus is collecting my passwords and such when I'm constantly re-entering them? Below is my HJT log, and many thanks in advance! smile.gif
