CANNOT ACTIVATE NORTON ANTIVIRUS

I received a disc from Net Zero to install norton antivirus online. I installed it and when I went to activate it, windows kept opening and I had no control to stop it. (at one point I had 38 blank windows). I finally logged off. I have tried it ten times and even uninstalled and then re-installed norton. It won't let me enter my PIN to activate. Can anyone offer any suggestions? (this is my first time posting and my computer knowledge is very limited so I apologize in advance for my ignorance).

Do you have to activate it immediately or within 30 days. If not immediately, use add / remove to uninstall only the live update part of Norton, then download and install live update here

Otherwise, contact Symantec, who may let you download the same version from their site to use with your product key / Pin
