Also if I go to system restore within the system tools nothing opens.
This also happens with system information. Just acts like I did not click on it at all.
Went on line with Compac they led me to open system restore from the C promt.
but there again nothing happens when I tried to run it.
The search function works a little differnt the widow will open with the dog in it but there is not a place to enter any files to search for.
I went into task manger to see if help or serach were running but did not find any thing that I thought might be those programs.
I had DRSN search take over my web browser search program. This started to happen around the time I noticed the search takeover in my browser. Tried several programs to get rid of it. I wonder if it had done somthing to keep me from restoring my computer. Microsoft antispyware got rid of it and my browser is back to nomal. I wanted to reload the windows xp program but when I tried to it said a newer verison of window was installed and wouldn't proceed with installation. I guess perhaps the updates that have been installed makes it a newer version.
Hope I dont have to reformat and reload everything.
