I created a folder for a web site that I am building, once I was done with the folder I went to delete it and got this error message

“Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk”

I could delete all of the files inside of it but not the folder. I rebooted about a thousand times since this problem first presented its self. I have run Scan Disks, Norton Disk Doctors and numerous other diagnostic programs on the hard drive but they all come up clean.

It’s a pretty new hard drive, about 4 months old. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this file would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I have also tried to get rid of threw DOS prompt but that didn’t work either.

Welcome Madmech <_<

Try the killbox. Click Here to download TheKillbox. Extract TheKillBox.exe from the zip file and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste these entries one by one, clicking 'Find and Kill This File' after each one:

enter your file name

Click 'Exit' when done.

Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Thank you for your speedy response.

I downloaded the Killbox software and ran it pointing it to the folder that I wanted it to delete. I got an error message saying

“This file does not seem to exist”

I installed the second program you recommended and then ran the Killbox again but with the same results.

Any suggestions ??

Hope you love a good challenge as much as I do <_<

Always up for a good challenge <_<!

What do you get if you right click the folder and click on properties?

When I right click and hit properties I get the normal box but pretty much everything is blank.

Type of file:
Opens with:
Location: C:\Websites
Size: 0 bytes
Size on disk: 0 bytes
Created:
Modified:
Accessed:

I tried to customize the folder by changing the default icon and stuff and it looked like it was working but then I hit apply and then OK and nothing changed.
