ok..so if you go to a website that requires a password...it won't accept the password? or can you not type in the textbox at all? or can you type all the info in....press ok...then you get a page that has an error?

you mean start > settings > control panel gives you an internet explorer error?

yes

I found this post when looking for a solution:
"One huge reason why ME blows is that it's the only OS that is dependant upon IE for it's functionality. Ever heard of an error 29 in ME, a misisng control panel or missing system restore. Thats a hosed IE. The bad thing is that depending on how corrupt IE is, if you try to repair or restore it, sometimes it can screw things up alot more and basicly make your computer un-boot-able. So tell your friends unless they back up their important data alot, theres a good chance on day they'll never have access to it again."

however there was no further info

find your ME cd...and put it in the cd rom
now do start > run > sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and /scannow)
let that run as it will check your system files and replace the ones that are corrupted

ok it did nothing. I tried some other things and may have caused anouther prob.

first of all I can enter text if I use firefox.

I tried the IE repair tool which said "IE can not be repaired try running setup"

I uninstalled IE using ieradicator.
I tried reinstalling Ie 6.0 but it will not install. It says something like "cant finish install try closing all programs and running setup again"
of course no programs are running?...

controle panel still gives error 29

of course my whole reason for doing all this is my mom wants to install verizon dsl on her computer. and cant enter anything. And now verison seems to need IE as its browser
