how old is your drive if it can only support 1 or 2x writing speeds what are your system speaks and what speed disc were you trying to write with?

have you got the latest firmware upgrade from pioneer?

pleaselist your comp specs

computer specs? not sure what you want but here goes
xp. service pack 2
amd athlon 1.73 ghz 480 mb ram

the computer is at least 4 years old (dvd burner came with it)
I checked for updates for my dvd burner, it says I have the latest. went to install firmware but i get this message while trying to install it
available target not found--
