I cannot click on or put a dot into the POP3, nor is there an option for "next".

What i get is the five following tabs down the right margin:

1) ADD

2) REMOVE

3) PROPERTIES

4) IMPORT

5) EXPORT

O.K.,

I click on ADD...

First screen asks for display name, put it in and click NEXT

Second screen is the e'mail addy i use. Put it in and click NEXT

Third screen is E'mail server names. Two blank boxes appear, the first titled Incoming POP3 and the second titled Outgoing SMTP.

THESE are the blank boxes that are awaiting me to type something in them, then i could click NEXT.

Got it and did it Keith.

I think i now have to reboot my system to make things work. I just tried forwarding a file with my new setup but got an error message again.

Sometimes it takes me a dozen attempts to get my system to reload after shutdown so it may take awhile to let you know how things turn out, but i will get right back to you.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the box where you put the details in, so now you should click accounts then change with the account you created selected

[attachment=5990:attachment]

Then click more settings, then you need to click out going server, tick my server requires authentication, put the dot in log in using, then fill the account name including @earthlink.net and the password, tick remember password

Hold everything Keith...

I have the feeling that we're possibly not talking about the same E'mail service.

Please understand that i'm a pure beginner, you've been extremely patient with me thus far, thanks for that.

I have two e'mail options on my desktop. I'll describe their logos/icons to you...

FIRST: White envelope with blue arrows curving around envelope.

SECOND: Pea green and white, envelope with clock overlaid in corner.

And i've been talking about........the second one. Have you?

Holy crap i'm an idiot. I recall you asking me about this very early on. Could we start over?

Keith,

Lets go with OUTLOOK EXPRESS. This icon is the white envelope w/ blue arrows curving around it.

This icon is only seen by opening up the start menu.

We (I) have been trying to use the OTHER icon called MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2000. I will cease such nonsense immediately.

Let's talk about Outlook Express...shall we?

If you go to tools then accounts in Outlook, it should show the account you set up as the default, click properties and you should get the boxes in post 38
