I am hoping someone can help. For the last couple of weeks, my wireless connection keeps cutting out. We use MTS high speed internet and the MTS router.

The connection is secured and firewalled. I suspect that there is spyware or a downloader of some kind that is overpowering the connection.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What does this have to do with comments and suggestions?

Moved to networking forum.

Hi cevans,

How often does your connection cut out?

The connection is secured and firewalled. I suspect that there is spyware or a downloader of some kind that is overpowering the connection.

If you believe that you are infected, please follow all of the steps located here. Once done, you may also need to post a HJT log here.

Can you plug your computer directly into the modem? Do you still lose connection?

Please goto Start --> Run --> type EVENTVWR --> press OK --> Now, look under the System log for any errors and/or warnings. If you find a TCP/IP error, please open it by double clicking on it. Is the error message inside identical to this:
TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.
If so, please download this Patcher (the english version; top link). Run it (choose to increase the limit to 50). Reboot your computer and test your connection.
If that particular error/warning is not present, please list any other errors/warnings located in your log.

Thanks,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for getting back to me. The connection breaks a lot. Sometimes it’s every few seconds, other times it can be okay for half an hour, and everything in between.

I spent yesterday doing EVERYTHING that was suggested on the Geeks to Go site. (I even bought Trojan Guard). My connection was working great until this afternoon, and it is breaking again.

I took my laptop into the office and connected directly with the network server and absolutely no problems with connection breaks. (I am not sure how to connect directly at home to my modem.)

I am attaching my “hijack this” log as you requested. I also am attaching the event log (there is a whole lot of stuff there—YIKES) but I did not notice anything regarding TCP/IP.
