I get an Error message that states:

A Runtime Error has occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?

Line: 46 (or some other number)
Error: Access Denied

YES NO (buttons)

I get this when using Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106IC
They pop up when I click on various "links" in websites
that perform some kind of task, like changing the clothing
on my Avatar dude in Yahoo...and other things less mundane.

Ran BugDoctor which advertises a free download and promises
to remove runtime problems, but it bombed every time it got
to a certain .drv file during the scans.

I know the best fix is to get rid of ME, but that is not an option right now...
Installed all updates, patches, security fixes, etc. with Windows Update.
Any help on a fix or some freeware that will cure it will be much appreciated.

Hello wave_rydr...

BugDoctor is just another scam to part you from your money...it generates false positives to induce you into buying their product...which is absolutely worthless at best.

I recommend you uninstall that application and visit the Malware Forum to see what kinds of junk it installed on your machine along with it. Then, if you are still having problems, come back to this thread and we'll see if we can get you fixed up.

Malware Forum...follow the instructions at the top....Especially the Start Here.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

I followed your instructions and the Malware forum instructions.
I ran: Cleanup, AdAware se, Spybot, CWShredder, TrojanHunter and HijackThis.
Trend Housecall wouldn't run, and then flaked out on me
after I downloaded the Java stuff. Never did get its results.
Not sure what the Java download did or didn't do for me...
Didn't run the one for XP and 2000, for obvious reasons.
Just did Windows Update yesterday for ME. Rebooted several times doing the above steps.
Below is my HijackThis log. Thanks for all your help so far. You are mucho cool-o.

ps - I also did as Elaine suggested. That might have been all I needed to do for the Runtime
error....but since I did all this other stuff, and found some perpetrators, perhaps you could
look over my log anyway. Thanks again.

wave_rydr...

There's still a couple of "suspicious" entries in your log...I don't see a serious infection, though... :)

It wouldn't hurt to post a log in malware and have the folks there help you remove the last of the bad stuff.

Malware often makes the changes to your machine that can cause the issues you were having. Getting rid of that and resetting the default settings (as you have done...thanks Elaine) usually does the trick... :tazz:

Hi All

I'm new to this site, came across it when looking for the vsmon error.

Elaine, my settings are already set to your suggested ones, do you have any other ideas?

I found some entries elsewhere re something in yahoo causing a problem but nothing seems to be working

Hope you can all help
