For example, the google icon appears in the launch bar originally, switch users and the icon returns in the format of the windows folder with the "e". This happens regularily. The Yahoo icon also disappears, changing from its red 'Y' to the windows icon...the letter"e" in front of the folder. No rhyme or reason? Any suggestions or advise appreciated to correct this will be appreciated. Thanks

there is a rhyme or reason...the icon files are stored in the temporary internet cache...as it clears out (old files are replaced by new files since there is finite space), the special icons are deleted.

Copy the icon files to another directory and then re-link the bookmark to the new icon file. Find the favicon.ico files for the web sites you use in the IE cache (Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings button -> View Files button) and copy them into any non-temp directory. Rename them then for each Favorite, right click on it, select Properties and click on the Change Icon button. Point Windows to the appropriate copied icon in the new, permanent icon directory.
