My friend has a Dell 3000 and for some reason Dell never put the AGP slot in that brand... So he played BF2 on my old-new system and wanted BF2 but his computer stinks for graphic demanding games...

So here's the list... Please note he only had a 450 dollar limit and he is gonna be using the RAM with the Dell and other stuff...

What I think he should do since he is strictly on that budget of $450 would be to get a cheaper motherboard and then get a 6800gs video card that is the best performance card out there for the money.

Do NOT get the 6600 if you do he will wish he never would have upgraded. The 6600 is slow especially for bf2 in general. The 6800gs will run all games at high settings and it is equal to that of a 6800gt. The 6800gs is like 1-2% slower than a 6800gt. Do not get the 6600, that would be the worst mistake for the money, that card is not worth that much.


I would not pay that much for a plane looking asus motherboard, look at gigabyte, msi, abit as they all make cheaper boards and high end boards also.

1. Pick a cheaper motherboard, in the end with the 6800gs the system will be way faster than with the 6600.
2. Buy the 6800gs
3. That case looks fine but it doesnt say anything about the voltage on the rails. You know that those kind of powersupplies included are cheap and may or may not burn out. Thats just a risk you have to take.


The processor is a fine choice, but the video card and mobo has to go for shure. The case would be fine probably.

Yeah i would say get another mobo, the fact that it is an Asus is good enough for me not to like it at the moment. The 6600s are all very overpriced for what they are. You should always be wary of generic PSUs.

Ill help you out pal and work my magic, I have made 4 different shopping lists and you will be suprised what I found.

This is the best all around list that I picked out. Its with the ati X800gto which is about the same speed as the 6800gs would be. Its 256mb and 256 bit which is good. You will be suprized as I said, it just takes time to look around man and its not a good thing to go right out and buy a $115 motherboard on a strict budget.

You could get the 6800gs it is possible but the motherboard would have to be a cheap one around $55.

Warrior and jrm, could he reuse his PSU? I have heard bad things about Dell and their PSU's compatiblities with other brand mobos and stuff... Cause if he could, then you could use more money for a better case. Whats your PSU Dan again? 250 or 350? If it is 350, could it support those things jrm?

Trust me it will power up everything, I have used this before in a pentium 4 3ghz system 2 harddrives, dvd combo drive, 4 sticks of ram, and a 6800gs on a budget for someone.

the motherboard is a 24 power pin, so you will have to buy an adapter 24 to 20 pin or either get another powersupply with 24 pins already.
