Half Life 2 ERROR Help

I just bought Half Life 2 yesterday and I installed steam and the whole game. After I finished I tryed to play the game and I get this ERROR: ERROR steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load libary Steam.dll what does that mean because it wont let me start the steam program so I am unable to play Half Life 2 any help would be very helpful.

restart the computer and see what happens. steam may need to be restarted to allow updates to be applied.

I tried that it keeps saying that error like it doesnt was to install right or something...

Hello Equanox and welcome to G2G!

Try deleting the clientregistry.blob file and then restart the computer.
The file is located in c:\program files\valve\steam.
If that doesn't work then uninstall Steam via add/remove programs in control panel and then install the latest from the steampowered website.
