cd-rom drive won't open

My Cd-ROM drive will not open, and it is not on the screen in My Computer or Device Manager. I had this problem before, and I took my computer into Best Buy for the techs to look at it, and when i got there it was working just fine. I have tried restarting my computer and still nothing. Please help! I have Windows XP operating system.

turn your computer off and make sure you've grounded yourself (NO TV FOR A WEEK...AND NO MORE VIDEO GAMES!!! j/k)...now check to be sure that all the cables atatched to the drive are properly seated (would explain why when you got to best buy the thing worked...the cable just wiggled around)
