win98se with zonealarm and avgfree. After a few minutes of use from a reboot the cursor starts freezing for half a second every 4 seconds, then it gets worse over an hour until it's freezing for 4 seconds and releasing for about 1 second. From the start-stop chuntering of the hard disk it seems to be the whole machine stopping then starting again, progressively grinding to unuseability and needing a full reboot. I've noticed that when I shut an application it seems to move more freely for a few seconds and then resume.

Tried defragging as ageneral speed-things-up ploy but it starts and stays at 0% forever. Imported the ME Defrag which also had the same problem.

I'm running a wireless network (Belkin) if that's important, but this happens whether or not I have the radio enabled.

I've run hijack this and attach the log file.

wm_hunter, again..you are not allowed to analyze HJT logs on this site or give any type of Malware advice. :tazz: Leave that to Staff members, please.

That 04 you highlighted belongs to the users' Router. :)

nickyboy..you DO have some Malware on that computer. Please start a new topic in the Malware/Badware forum, and paste your HJT log there. A Staff member will be happy to help you. :)
