This morning I switched on my laptop, and Internet Explorer wasn't working properly. When I open an IE window, it takes a while to find the website, then when it says 'Website Found, waiting for reply' or 'Opening Page www.' etc, it takes a long time to load, and I'm frequently getting the 'Page cannot be displayed' message. Even if it does fully load up, it takes a while. I've scanned with my AVG anti-virus and it found nothing, scanned with ad-aware SE Personal and Ewido and deleted the spyware/malware I had. Also deleted my temporary internet files (including offline content) and cookies. Also deleted my history. I tried using Firefox and still have the same problems. I uninstalled Java to see if that would help, but unfortunately, it didn't. I'm running Microsoft Windows XP, with SP2, and have the latest version of Internet Explorer. I used testmy.net to check my download speed, and that's fine. I read the 'How-To Repair Internet Explorer 6.0' thread, however, I don't have my Windows XP CD. My ISP is NTL. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Mr. Wonka

Yes I have. The problem seems to have rectified itself today. I'm guessing it was a problem with my ISP. Thank you for your reply though. Would it be possible to keep this thread open for the next 48 hours incase the problem arises again?

Willy Wonka- what would java have to do with web pages not displaying properly? You went to some extreme measures for what was probably an ISP proble,. Next time, just try a simple telephone call to their office, or at least just a system restore. You didn't need to delete your history, but dumping temp files was a good idea. Whew...glad you got it resolved. Post back if you have any further problems.
