I have an EMachines computer with XP.
When I turn on the power, I get the white "Emachines" screen then a black screen with a buncho f start-up things. At the bottom of the screen it says:
Verifying DMI Pool Data
Boot from CD
Boot from CD
and a blionking cursor-but this is where everything ends...nothing else happens...
HELP...Please?

Boot the PC and keep tapping the delete key until it enters set up, check the boot order is set to Hard Drive the CD ROM Drive, press F10 to save changes, Type Y to confirm then look for fail safe / BIOS defaults, load those, press F10 to save then type Y to confirm then press enter and it will reboot, as soon as it starts this, keep tapping F8 until you get options, choose safe mode

Well, I tried what you posted and nothing happened.
But when I put in the Receovery Disc I at least got some options. I could choose DOS or Recovery or preand restarted at least I got some other options like press F5 of Shift F5 for something, but after that I was stuck.

I tried to run the recovery but it says that some files are missing (?), something about a ghost. I used tho think that I was pretty good with computers-sadly I think that I'm no longer so great!

It came with the computer. The computer is an emachines and the it came with a 2 disk set of recovery CD's. Did you need to know something more specific about them?
