Hi,

I am having a problem getting my Gateway 200ARC laptop to start up. I press the power button and nothing happens. I have tried starting it up many different ways (no AC, no battery, different outlets) but nothing is working. Can someone please help?

If the AC cord is connected properly should there be a light on the laptop somewhere indicating that the connection is there?

Any help would be great!

Thank you...

I've got a Gateway 400vtx. I'm pretty sure that an LED on the front comes on when the AC power is connected.

I would put a volt meter across the power supply conector. Set it to DC. I'm not sure what it should read. Take a look at the batery and see if there is a voltage on it. I would think that the power supply should put out the same amount. You might have to put a paper clip on the end of one of the probes to get it into the hole on the conector.

If it's puting out rated voltage then you have an open circuit somewhere in the laptop. I would suspect right where you insert the ac adapter.
