what are the pros and cons of vegas 6 and adobe premiere pro 2.0, what do you think is better?

I use premiere pro 1.5 (and final cut) and in my honest opinion, it is a "perfect" video editor for what i need it to do.

well, I started making home movies with my friends a while ago, and i tried the free trial of Vegas. I like it but i'm not sure if I should buy that or Premiere pro 2. I like the ability to customize the effects and color, as well as the compositing. i read a few reviews and they basically were going either to vegas or premiere.

I am kind of leaning towards premiere pro 2 because it seems to have more plugins available for it, and because i am a student i get a great deal on the software. How steep is the learning curve for Premiere pro and after effects compared to Vegas? I got the basics of Vegas after a few hours of playing with it.

ps. do you know of any good tutorials for after effects + premiere?

I cant remeber the last time i used vegas so i am unable to comment which is better between them.

Premiere Pro was easy for me to learn, if you can understand the concept of the timeline then it is easy. But you do need to play around with it for a few hours (days) to fully understand it.

After effects - i required a 3 day course to understand this program, once you can understand how the layers/effect controls and interface work its an amazing program and you can do almost any composition effect you can think of.
