Mixere is a free, open-source application for mixing audio files. It runs on Windows NT/2000/XP, and supports WAV, AIFF, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Flac, and Mod audio files.
Mixere is optimized for live performance, and especially for creating live sound collage. Conceptually, it’s like a rack full of CD players connected to an automated mixer. Mixere's features include dynamic looping of audio, auto-triggering of audio, fully automated sliders, "soft" (gradual) mute/solo operations, crossfading between documents, and unlimited undo.
A Mixere document consists of a number of tracks, each containing a single audio file. Any number of tracks can play simultaneously, subject only to the limits of Windows and sound card performance. Audio is streamed directly from disk, so there's no limit on audio file size, and no waiting for audio to be loaded into memory.
Mixere's interface is similar to a spreadsheet. The rows are tracks, and the columns are properties which can be adjusted for each track: name, transport (play/pause/stop/loop), mute/solo, volume, pan, pitch (+/- one octave), and audio position.

The GX::Transcoder is a flexible audio converter software, which is able to convert in a
batch mode between a lot of audio formats. Additionally the Transcoder uses plugins to
add more functions for transforming and playing audio files.
The GX::Transcoder in it's standard version is able to en- and decode MP1, MP3, MP2,
MPC, OGG Vorbis, PCM up to 7.1 Channel, G.721, G.723, G.726, G.729, ADPCM, GSM,
VOX, DSP, VQF and RAW files as well as decoding QuickTime MOV and QT files. There
are also AddIns available, which extends the Transcoder to handle the formats AAC,
M4A, M4P4, LA, LPAC, WMA, TTA, OptimFrog, WavPack, FLAC, rkAudio, Real Audio,
Speex, Bonk Audio, ALAC and Shorten. There are plans to support even more audio
formats. The transcoder also contains a video converter. This converter can transcoder
between all installed avi codecs, mpeg with dvd, vcd and svs extension and wma
video files.

This tool calculates a given length in seconds of an audio sample into tempo in BPM and reverse. You can also adjust Number of measures and beat resolution. Also included a calculator for time/tempo stretch rate calculation if you want to adjust tempo or time to a fixed value (e.g. matching to the tempo of a sequencer song). Length can be read directly from wave files.
The duration of a song can also be calculated from tempo and number of measures as well as length of single notes. This may help you to set delay (or other time dependend) settings. Additionally the frequency of note lengths is calculated (e.g. for oscillator adjustment)
An integrated beat counter allows DJs to measure the tempo of a running song.
A metronome can be run according to counted tempo. Metronome tempo can be changed.

DDClip is a multi-track audio sequencer that can record and play up to four tracks of digital audio (and one video track) simultaneously. You can for example use it to mix the drum loops you've created with HammerHead with your TS-404 patterns to create a whole song (see the example file on the left). Each of the four tracks can have an unlimited number of clips. The clips contain a reference to a continuous fragment (or a whole content) of audio or video data from a source file. Having only four tracks (channels) to work with might seem like a big limitation, but it's usually more than enough to create the basic structure of a song.
An outstanding feature of the editor is the speed of the playback, especially for its audio part - DDClip is able to mix sound tracks in real time. Each track has solo/mute toggles. Master volume and balance can be set for whole project, each track and each clip. Moreover, the clips may have their own volume and balance profiles. DDClip is a non-destructive editor, it does not change source wave (or AVI) files. There are 10 undo/redo levels.
DDClip has a very intuitive user interface. Operations and features are easily accessible on toolbar, menus and context-sensitive local menus.
DDClip has two windows: Project and Clip Collection. The Project window contains all data and tools for project editing. The Clip Collection window may be considered as a handy storage for your audio and/or video source.
