monitor cut off and won't come back

I was doing some work on my in-laws computer and needed to print, the cable (usb) had come unplugged so I plugged it back in and when I looked back at the monitor, it had turned off. I checked the monitor connections and they were fine. I unplugged it for a few minutes and plugged it back in and it still won't come back on. I brought my monitor from my pc and it worked just fine on theirs. Their pc is dell 600mhz, 512ram, 10gb hd

Any ideas what happened to the monitor? The thing (monitor) is less than two yrs. old.
