I'm going through the basic get rid of malware stuff and can't get my computer into safe mode. It boots and when I hit f8 it goes to a blue screen that says I need to select my boot device, I select one then it just goes directly to windows with no indication that it is in safe mode. Anyone got any ideas?

you sure you're hitting f8? That sounds more like a boot menu, which is typically f10 or f2...wait until after your harddrives are recognized, then hit f8...

Or, use start > run
msconfig
<enter>

go to boot,ini, choose safe boot box, hit ok

reboot

you guys are awesome, I got to it through the msconfig. I'm not sure why it wasn't working the other way but I've had problems getting this cpu to recognize that it has any drives since I got it. Thanks for the help.
