can't access windows update website

hi all.
i have inherited this pc, and it has xp pro service pack 1 on it. the problem is that i cannot get onto the update website to download service pack 2. i think i might have inerited a dodgy copy of xp pro :tazz:

( and maybe this is why. can't find out, but need sp2 for obvious reasons... at least i think i do?
tried to load a legal xp home that i have on my laptop which i don't connect with. but windows says that i can't go from home to pro.
help!
