my computer is infected!

ok few hours ago got message come up near my clock in toolbar stating:
"Your computer is infected"
dangerous infection detected on your pc.
the system will now download and install most efficient antimalware program to prevent data loss and your priate information theft.
click here to protect your computer from the biggest malware threats.

when i go on the internet my home page has changed to:
http://www.securityprecaution.net/
which gives details that my private info is being collect by W32.Sinnaka.A@mm and that my country is USA, even though im UK!
website recommends some antispy/malware stuff but i don't trust it enough to download.

any ideas on what i can do?

Hi tom_george, welcome to Geeks To Go Forums.

It seems that you are infect with some type of malware

So could you please download "Hijackthis" (Click on the link) and run Hijackthis with log. Save the log file here:
Malware Removal - HiJackThis Logs Go Here (Click on this link)

When you have followed all these steps. A Geeks To Go Staff will help you fix your problem.

tried that but i get error message saying
internet explorer cannot open http://www.geekstogo...ction=show&id=3
operation aborted.
any more ideas
i also get a security alert which pops up alongside infection sign in toolbar by the clock

program called spywarestrike or something keeps downloading itself onto my computer. what the [bleep] is it and does it do any good. bear in mind i know nothing about computers
