I have Windows XP Pro and I can't access the folder properties and the sharing and security. Is there a way to fix the problem without reformatting?

I think I understand where the error is coming from....

Open MY COMPUTER > VIEW > scroll down...is simple file sharing checked?

If so, you do not have access to the sharing and security settings

Uncheck it...not sure i you need to reboot or not...

I'm the computer admin. When I right-click and select "Properties" or "Sharing and Security". I have already went into Folder Options and dechecked simple sharing.

are you saying that in the menu that comes up when you right click a folder...that "properties" isn't listed as well as the sharing option? or are they listed in the menu...but you cannot select them? if it's the second scenario...what do you mean you can't select them...are they greyed out? do you get an error when you pick them from the menu?
