How are ATA drive letter assignments made in WIN XP. e.g.
let us assume I have:
2 IDE drives on Pri IDE Ch., with 2 partitions each. Now C/E and D/F
2 CD Drives on the secondary IDE Channel (now G and H)
1 thumb drive on the USB bus (now I)

Now - if I add a drive on the ATA ch, what happens to my drive assignments (yes I know I can change them in XP but I also work in DOS and like to keep the drive letters the same).

TIA
h.
