maxtor 120 gb hd

hi i have a 120 gb hd and its a maxtor. i was wondering if anyone has any ideas? its not detected by anything. anyone have and way to demagnitise the hd or any last result thing>

hey thanks for responding.
yes as a mater of fact it is but when it gets detected it take like 5min to detect it and then 5 min later a error comes up primary slave failed. i tried to run powermax off a cd and it boots fine without the hd in but when i stick the hd in it wont boot into powermax it just stops. the drive is emiting a niose but it doesnt sound like its fried just stuck or something.

How many hard drives do you have installed? If this is the only one, then is it configured as the master or the slave?
