Both my systems are now acting strangely. I've run all virus scans including Nortons, Avast, Panda, etc and nothing comes up as infected. Here'a few of their symptoms.

1. After screen goes blank, it will flash back on again and not shut off.

2. A drumming sound comes from my speakers.

3. If you try to open explorer, my homepage will open but unable to go to any other site. The screen simply flashes. Other programs will also not open. If I run a spyware scan or virus scan following this, it will work normally for awhile and then start up doing it again a day or two later. This cycle has gone on for some time now and have never been able to solve the problem.

Thanks for any help with my problem.

Does this issue repeat in safe mode?

The symtoms do not seem to appear in safe mode. The problems are not consistent with each use, so I can't say definitively, but it appears that they do not.

Yes, I went through the steps on the Malaware forum. All tests showed no problems. When I went to run the Pandascan, which I tried twice, my Avast antivirus software came up with a message each time stating

virus detected. Malwarename Win32:CTX Malware type Virus/Worm. Since that time, the one computer has acted normal. I have not yet tried to run scans on my other system. Any thoughts.

Thank you for your assistance.

well, the ctx worm is not something you want on your pc...did you have it cleaned?

And now it is working normally?

ANd the other one? Scanned or not?

It is probably best that you have two different threads so people trying to assist you can keep the problems straight
