So.. earlier today I got what I'm almost positive is Spy Axe. I was backing up a few files and was planning to format(as I hadn't done so in a while anyway), but then I thought I would just try doing a system restore to see if it would fix it.

It did get rid of the pop ups, along with the message box on the taskbar, and the W32.Sinnaka browser hijack thing. What I'm wondering though, is did it really get rid of all the files? Would it be worth going through the steps to remove Spy Axe anyway to make sure none of it remains?

it would probably be in your best interest to go through the whole malware process here on the forum...if for no other reason than peace of mind..
