Hi,

Whenever I connect a device (ie. printer, burner) my laptop is unable to recognize a new device has been plugged in. I've gone through device setup and checked in the device manager for any problem with the usb port. Nothing. Could I have messed up something in the registry editor while removing something? Is the port itself physically damaged? Any help would be appreciated. I

I'm running windows xp.

Thanks,
Steve

Are these – [New Devices] – or – [Old Devices] – that have been previously installed –

Could I have messed up something in the registry editor while removing something? Is the port itself physically damaged?

Need to know if I am repairing USB that never functioned or USB that was working & now have suddenly ceased – Did USB ever functioned – When did they cease – Give me the details that you seem to be holding back –

Service Pack-(2) was released AUG-2004 which is about the time your USB quit working – When did you update to SP-(2) -

Probably just need to update USB drivers but there may be some other issue – with Dell USB Motherboard Support & ACPI

Download Free Edition of – [Everest] to analyze USB capability
http://www.filehippo...d_everest_home/

Perform the following steps to obtain 3 [REPORTS] – Need to [Create] & [Save] – 3 Separate [Reports] – as HTML Documents by using [Quick Report Summary] – Mode – Save these in a Folder – that you can find - & Attach all 3 to your next Post –

Do not use Text Format – Nor do you want to embed these [Reports] in your Post – Only use [Attachment] Mode – These [Reports] – are Too Long – to place in Post – The Forum will truncate – the [Reports] + The Report will be >20 pages –
