Move Hijack This to its own directory (i.e. C:\HJT) so that backups are saved and accessible.

Running two anti-virus programs can cause problems (Norton, AVG).

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 10.10.10.2:80

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log. <_<

Ye Olde Leap o' Faith...

I <gulp> followed the directions to the letter, and when I tried to reboot, I got those funky vertical flashing lines on a black screen...seen those TOO many times to count...

Nearly passed out, but then just did a hard reboot, and voila, here is my new HJT log for your perusal:

Also...which AV program should I remove?

Thank you for your help...you are really appreciated!

Your log looks good <_< How's your system working?

AVG and Norton are both excellent anti virus programs. They just may not get along well together. Norton requires you pay a yearly subscription fee to receive updates. AVG is free but offers no technical support. If you have paid the Norton subscription fee, and have some time left, I'd probably install AVG.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacools...areblaster.html

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

Well, so far. so good. I dl the SpywareBlaster as recommended. I think the Norton re-up is just around the corner, so I guess it'll be the one to go. Thanks again for your help. I'll run a few of my programs that "don't like" each other, and see if they get along better now.

Have an awesome day!
