well actual fax software that you install on your pc... well no such thing as free. not that I would want to recomend.
however I have used efax. http://www.efax.com/...a/page/homePage
Take a look at it. It may not fit your needs, but its well worth it.
Now, while it costs money WinFax Pro from symantec is a very good piece of software. I have an old version that still works well when I need it. You might look to see if you can find an older version on line for less$$

The fax I needed to send the other day was the first fax I've sent in years.
I don't really need a fax program.
But, having to take the time to go into town to do it and then having to pay several dollars for just doesn't sit well with me when I have three computers on at all times.
I think I 'll look around in Linux and see what I can find.
