cpu usage 100%

hi...my cpu usage constantly goes to 100% and slows everything to a freeze/crawl...what do i need to look at to correct the problem? i have a pentium 4 2.0 cpu with 1 gig of RAM...thanks

Ctrl-Alt-Delete should bring up your task manager where you can see what process is doing what.

I sometimes keep it open while doing stuff then if anything slows down you can see what it is instantly.

Give it a go and see if you can spot the cpu hungry process. You can then stop it if you wish. Finding out what it is will then allow you to take further action such as uninstalling/editing the hogging program

I would also check for spyware and a virus.
