I have Windows XP Pro. I have had it running for some time.
When I tried to install new programs recently, I Get the Following message:
"Windows installer service can not be accessed. Windows installer is not correctly installed.
Contact your support personel for assistance"

This is a home personal computer, 2 ghz athlon processor with 1gb of memory.

How do I fix the installer?

Hello and welcome to Geeks to Go.

Try downloading the latest Windows Installer from http://support.micro...om/?kbid=884016

After installing it, reboot.

the site says that I need to install sp2, but I already have sp2, So I down loaded the installer file from the site but it would install. Notes that the version of my computer is newer that the one with the down load.

I have windows XP OEM with sp2 installed.
