I have a problem with playback of certain types of video files.

I have 3 computers connectied together via a router, so I can share files between them. On computer 1 I have Windows Media Center running, and on computer 2 and 3 I have XP Home edition.

If I try to view the mpeg drv-ms files on computer 1 or computer 3 they open up fine, and I am albe to view them with windows media player. However, if I open the same file on computer 2 it plays, but with this annoying "butterfly" that moves around the screen during the entire clip. Is this a codec problem?

This same problem shows up with .avi files as well. I ripped the dvr-ms files into mpeg, then converted that file to a xvid .avi file. Works fine on computer 1 and 3, but once again, that annoying butterfly on computer 2!

Please help!

Open media player on 1 and 2 then run through the settings to see if there is a difference, the codecs should be the same if you installed the players in the same way

I just redownloaded and installed media player v10 on machine 2. Still the same thing. Also, I didn't mention that it doesn't matter if I open the files with media player, or realplayer, the exact same result. I don't know of any different settings between the computers.

To make things even more confusing, I ripped some dvd's with FairUse Wizard, (making xvid .avi files) on computer 1. These files work perfectly on all 3 computers.
