I recently installed Norton Systemworks and Norton Personal Firewall on my XP PC and everything was working just fine. A few days later I was surfing the web and was alerted by NAV that a virus called UnSpy PC was on my computer. Of course my NAV options were set to the recommended option of 'Fix problem' instead of 'Try fix and quaranteen if unsuccessful'.

Naturally Norton wasnt able to fix the problem which subsequently ended up redirecting some of my google search links to ad sites etc.

Strangely however after this virus infected the PC, Norton Systemworks' main menu wouldnt open. I tried for ages to get rid of the [bleep] but to no avail. In the end I used a program called FixWareout (specially made for Unspy PC virus) and HijackThis.

Moral of this story: disregard the fools at Symantec who made 'Fix problem' the reccommended option.

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .
That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.
If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
