My sister's computer has been restarting randomly recently.

This happens usually when...

"1. Open up a scanning program (ad-aware) or
2. Open up a browser (netscape, opera, NOT IE ((However, it does restart after using IE for a bit)))"

The virus scan does not find anything. She cannot run an online virus scan obviously. She uses Windows XP. Shall I post Hijackthis log? Any advice?

Thanks.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the Start Here

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

Ahh.. sorry that I annoyed you, DeSade. I have read that. And I am trying to get a log file now. The problem is that, as I said, she cannot open her browser without her pc restarting, so getting HiJackThis is a bit difficult.

You didn't annoy at all, that is a standard response and just saves us typing it out again and again :tazz:

Would you be able to get it to her on a disc?

Sorry, I realized that later on. ^^;

Good idea - I will try that, and get back to you. Thank you. :)

(Sorry again for the misunderstanding :tazz: )
