Is the current beta version of Vista usable for day to day tasks such as internet browsing, normal xp apps, and gaming?

Yes it is, but remember that you are always making a risk when using beta software as it may not be very stable.

I would personally wait until the official launch goes out and stick with XP for now.

Its always a good tip to backup important data before making big changes to your pc.
