I downloaded a codec package thing ((( ffdshow))) to try to get a .mv4 to work. and it did, but it seamed to be more then i wanted. A program that you can disable an enable codec Oh yeah I also had to download, Media Player classic..( wich i like) Then out of the blue more then half my video media started getting funny white dots all over them, so I un installed the codec package, but now I have this one file. its a . mv4 file and it wont play... Im pretty sure i can get sound, but i want to see it too any ideas on what codec i need? I just want one codec... Ive downloaded lots of codec, how come to play this one file it seams i need this fancy codec orginising program?

All you need to play that video is QUICKTIME 7 or itunes from apple.com all are free; .m4v is just apples way of saying "this is a quicktime video to be played in itunes" even though it is ment for itunes it can still be play in any quicktime based application by going to file-open, you may have to change the extension to .mp4 or any other quicktime label to get it to play in other things...most .m4v files are encoded using h.264 or mpeg4 and are ipod video size, so you need quicktime 7 or itunes (you can get the latest version from apple.com); note this file is not meant to be played in windows media player!
