CD drive doesn't recognize CDs

I have a Dell dimensions 8300 and am currently having a problem with my CD drive not responding. I tried to update the driver but did not have any success, when I went to my device manager I found that there is no CD device showing up. Can anyone help?

So the drive disappeared? Here is a possible fix from M$:
http://support.micro...om/?kbid=320553 upper and lower filters, drive not found
