I would like to move a hd that has a w98 sys on it into another box.
What problems can I expect since the new box has a different mobo?

98i is fairly good at adapting itself to a new motherboard environment (as opposed to XP which just doesn't want to know half the time). Just swap it over and see what happens. It'll go round finding new hardware for a few rebootss and then should be happy again.
