I have a brand new computer and when I try to play video with windows media, I get a message saying that there is not enough memory and I must quit other programs. What do I need to do to correct this?

How much memory do you have on your machine?

That should be plenty of RAM...

Donload and run HiJackThis, run a scan, and attach a log here for me. That will allow me to see what's running and, perhaps, point you to some applications you can stop from running in the background. Doing that will free up some system resources for your video playback.

When I click on HiJackThis, I get a page that tells me I don't have permission to do that action.

Sounds like you are set up as a limited user...are you?

Whose machine is this...rather, who else but you uses it?

Reset the Vitual Memory so that it is system managed. If you have to, use System Restore to roll your machine back to where it was before you reset the memory settings.

Click Start, then Run, type msconfig, and click "Ok".

Under the "Startup" tab, uncheck the boxes next to the following...

Adobe Reader
msmsgs
Microsoft Office
MsnMsgr

"Apply" the change and click "Ok"...Reboot. Upon restarting, you will get a Selective Startup dialog window. This is normal...put a tick in the box to not show it again and click "Ok".
