Windows 2000 XP Professional not functioning

my windows 2000 xp professional is no starting...no matter what mode i start it in, it only goes through a blue screen error, regarding systemroot\system32\config.

i cannot get it to begin in any of the mode options in F8...is there anything i can do at all?

do you have a windows 2000 cd?

do you have a second computer (and do you feel comfortable with the idea of) drop the drive from the bad PC into the second PC?
