Windows Media Player, RPC server not available

my windows media player is not working....the message i am getting is that the RPC server is not available.

my taskbar on the destop (at bottom) has also dissapeared.

i am getting low memory warnings, but have tenth of memory avail.

i re-installed windows home xp, and wma works...but i now have 2 versions of windows too...can i get ridof the old one...and how?
