Follow these directions to Empty Norton Quarantine

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.

Save it to your desktop.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.Save it to the desktop
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.


Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

Turn off System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

Pocket Killbox
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.


After the reboot

Turn ON System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

Post a final hijack log (when notepad opens click on format and uncheck wordwrap) and let me know how its running

Its running as it always does. Good. Its been running like this since I got lockbr.exe off of here. Granted, Im sure my computer is better now that Ive gotten rid of those extensive injuries to it.

However there is one problem. My task manager is acting strangely. Whenever I summon it up, all I get is the processes bar. I cannot switch over to the application and other bars, nor is the window complete. Its just the processes box. Nothing more. I would best serve you to know that my task manager was like this at an earlier time. It was automatically fixed after an incident occured back in October (another case in which I sought help here). Is there more we must do?

Lets try this first, Also are any other tabs missing.?

Download and save Cleandesktop to your computer from this link and double click on the
cleandesktop.exe

It will automatically extract to c:\desktopclean where it needs to be to run and will automatically run the cleandesktop.vbs script

If it doesn't open then go to c:\desktopclean and double click on the cleandesktop.vbs Do not run any other file from there please unless asked to

If you have script blocking enabled you will get a warning about a malicious script wanting to run. Please allow this script to run. It is not malicious.

If you get a message when you first run it "Can not find script file "blah blah blah" then don't worry just doubleclick the cleandesktop.vbs script again you sometimes get that message when a script blocker blocks the script

It will then kill Explorer. You will lose your taskbar and desktop. It will repair the registry entries returning your normal desktop and context menu functions.

It will restart Explorer.

Now let me know on the Taskmanager issues again please.

Still the same. Task Manager only shows the Processes list. As far as I can tell as well, this is the only problem Im facing, however, I have noticed that some programs leave the top bars (IE: File, Edit, View, etc) highlighted in a slightly white color after I open the bars.
