I am trying to play music in windows media 10 and keep recieving the message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." then when i check for more information it read error code "C00D1199: Cannot play the file"

Any ideaon what i can do to fix this?

C00D1199: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

It is most probably IMHO. And what file type has that file? Have you been able to view it formerly?
You can also try downloading and install new codec or codec pack from http://www.free-codecs.com
