Ok so I had an issue with some graphics drivers and I went and did a repair on XP. Now when the repair is about finished I get an error that it can't load the catsvr32 library (Code 0x8007007f). I click ok and it finishes up. Now the computer boots up and when it gets to the welcome screen I get the error - Not enough Virtual Memory or page file unable to complete the specified operation. So I try to get into safe mode. No dice I get the same error about not enough virtual memory. Any ideas on how to rectify this?? I didn't do a backup (still kicking myself) before so at this moment a format isn't an option.

first...could you put in the ENTIRE exact error message? may make it easier to find another sollution...
in the event that this is non-recoverable....do you have access to another computer?

yeah sorry about not putting the error earlier

sub component COM+ raised an exception while processing the OC_COMPLETE_INSTALLATION setup message. d:\nt\com\com1x\scr\complussetup\compsetup\csetuputil.cpp (line 3406) ERROR CODE=0x8007007f
The specified procedure could not be found. Failed to load the library 'c:\windows\system32\catsrv.dll

I have access to another computer so I can grab the doc's etc if I need to.

www.jsifaq.com/subn/tip6900/rh6951.htm found that for repairing the com+ error...which won't help at all since you can't boot into windows..i'm very suprised that you're getting virtual memory errors blocking you out of safe mode...

that page file error is soooo very vague....most of the stuff i'm getting is coming up involving a page file quota....could you verify the EXACT wording of the page file error?

ahh you're right! It does say paging file quota.

It reboots as soon as the message pops up so it's hard to read

so the full error says this
"not enough virtual memory or page file quota
to complete this operation"...or something VERY similar to that right?

alright...go to www.memtest86.com ..follow their instructions for making a bootable floppy and boot to it with the computer...let it run as long as you can stand to (i usually try for 2 to 3 passes...which can take up to 2 or 3 hours...it will run untill you stop it...so...check on it every once and a while....and report back )
