I am a little worried that someone may have hacked into my computer. I got a strange E-mail today from paypal. I am a little weary about this and I am afraid to login to paypal. Am I being paranoid or is this email legit? I also have a hijack this log if that will help out. Below is the E-mail. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Unauthorized access to your PayPal account!

We recently noticed more attempts to log in to your PayPal account from a foreign IP address.

If you accessed your account while traveling, the unusual log in attempts may have been initiated by you. However, if you are the rightfull holder of the account, please visit Paypal as soon as possible to verify your identity:

Click here to verify your account

You can also verify your account by logging into your PayPal account at https://www.paypal.com/us/.
If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choise but to temporaly suspend your account.

We ask that you allow at least 72 hours for the case to be investigated and we strongly recommend to verify your account in that time.

Thank you for using PayPal!
The PayPal Team

Do not answer that email or use any link in it.

head to the paypal site from your usual method (no links) and use the contact feature to verify the email.

If you already have a HJT log, you can post it here in this thread for one of us to look over. If we see any indiction of malware, we can then move this to the malware forum, or have you start a new topic there. :tazz:

My aunt works for paypal and was just telling me about those emails. You are so right to avoid it! It looks like paypal, but has pages that ask for credit and account info, even the pin numbersl. She says the phones have been ringing off the hook at the office because of it!

only if you need it..

p.s. -- I take it back, I missed one -- you do have one thing

Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

is marginal malware

If you do not use it and do not know what it is, go to add/remove control panel and remove it

If sbc yahoo, I'd remove anything AOL related now that you've moved to Broadband
